What Happens To Our Site on May 1st?

ISC2 has announced that on May 1, 2021, the CISSP exam and the Common Body of Knowledge will change: https://www.isc2.org/Certifications/CISSP/Domain-Refresh-FAQ.  We have been asked what the plan is with our site, and how it might affect all of you.

Rest assured, our plan is to update ALL of our content as quickly as possible.  We will begin by reviewing the Common Body of Knowledge (CBK) in detail to understand the scope of what’s changed.  While previously we compared ISC2’s exam outline from 2018 to their newest outline for 2021 and found a 20% increase in content (a very loose estimate), our in-depth study of the CBK itself will be different and much more detailed.  After May 1st, we will compare each subdomain and all the content therein topic by topic, term by term, definition by definition to assess our workload.  How long will this take?  We don’t know for sure and can’t make any promises, and for this reason we’ve extended our “six month” plan to one year for the same price.  Please understand that we are committed to keeping our site up to date and aligned with ISC2, we just don’t know what the workload or timeline will be at this time.

Our first step will be to update our question database as comprehensively as possible, since this is what most of you paid for (a big thank you by the way!).  The process of creating quality questions (that are not simply re-hashes of the CBK) is both time consuming and laborious.  Most test banks follow the linear question format, which we consider to be sentence and definition “juggling” – while we do have a few of those type of questions, we prefer to reflect the adaptive-style questions of the new exam which are much more challenging and require wisdom rather than rote knowledge.

Our second step will be to review and update our Super Study Guide(sm), our memorization sheet, and finalize our educational YouTube videos. We will do our best to post official updates here to announce when things are updated.

So what does this mean for you and whether or not you should sign up or continue with our site?  Well, all we can say with certainty is that we will keep our memberships at 1 year until we fully update our questions.

What does this mean for those taking the exam on or shortly after May 1?  We advise everyone to reschedule your exam and give yourself time to get up to speed.  It’s better to pay the $50 and get caught up rather than pay the $700 to take it again in the future.

Best of luck to you all, and find a study partner! (It really helps).

I’m really concerned with this, spent the last 4 months studying and have my exam booked for 06/05/21 & went through the official ISC2 self-training course! This cost quite a bit surly if this is changed now I should be compensated or provided with the new course material free of charge? My stress level has just gone up by 150%

Reschedule your exam to September if possible. There is a $50 fee. If you purchased the self-paced training course within the past week or so it may have already been updated (ISC2 site says the self paced materials have been updated for the “new” exam), but if not, maybe consider contacting ISC2 and request an updated version of the course material. As for us, our site won’t begin updating with any new questions until after May 1.
